BMW CEO expects i3 electric car to contribute to group profit
MUNICH (Reuters) - German premium automaker BMW expects to reap a "positive" contribution to group profit from every i3 electric vehicle sold, Chief Executive Norbert Reithofer said on Tuesday. BMW will start selling its Megacity electric vehicle, dubbed the i3 later this year and the i8 sports car in early 2014, Reithofer said during the company's annual general meeting. The CEO declined to give a sales target or identify development costs of the i3, to be build at the car maker's Germany-based Leipzig factory. Tesla first-quarter profit tops forecast, lifts sales outlook
By Deepa Seetharaman DETROIT (Reuters) - Tesla Motors Inc reported its first-ever quarterly profit on Wednesday, trouncing Wall Street estimates, as the 10-year-old automaker delivered nearly 5,000 Model S electric cars during the first three months of the year. The company, led by billionaire Elon Musk, said it expects to deliver 21,000 Model S cars worldwide, up 5 percent from its earlier target of 20,000. Eventually, global demand for its Model S electric car may surpass 30,000 vehicles a year, it said. ...

DETROIT (Reuters) - Tesla Motors Inc Chief Executive Elon Musk said the electric carmaker on Friday will make a strategic announcement that according to a spokeswoman revolves around service. Shares of Tesla were up nearly 3 percent on Thursday. 'Announcement of new @TeslaMotors strategy tomorrow. Tesla owners will like this,' Musk said in a message on Twitter that was sent shortly before 12 p.m. EDT (1600 GMT).
